About Us

Ardent Lion Society, Inc. is an organization that started as a club in Ghana in 2001. It is organized exclusively for educational, scientific and charitable purposes. The main aim of the organization is to contribute positively to its community and society as a whole. Its members, with a selfless attitude, undertake activities that are of more benefit to others, than to their individual selves. We are also dedicated to the publication, distribution and spreading awareness through visual education on HIV/AIDS, DRUG ABUSE and MENTAL ILLNESS. We also communicate the problems of the needy, poor and sick to as many people as possible, and ask for help to alleviate the suffering of such people. We address the issues of food, clothes and shelter by soliciting the help of businessmen and community leaders, as well as retail and food companies. In a variety of ways, we uplift society, and feel our ideas can bring a positive change. We want people to know they can join us and help to make life much better for many others. To join the organization and help it to fulfill its mission, please write to Ardent Lion Society, P. O. Box 356, White Plains, New York, 10605, USA, or please send an e-mail to Kofiromeo@ardentlion.org

Our History
On the 29th of June 2001, in a house numbered G17363 at Palmwine Junction, La, Accra - Ghana, Romeo Amoako-Agyeman introduced an idea of a club to his longtime friends. He explained the need for them to form a club that would enable them to help other people. He also stressed it would be a good medium through which they could selflessly serve their community and society as a whole. They all agreed to his idea. He further suggested that each person present select a letter from his name, that will be used to form a name for the club. Paul Agoe Anyetei selected the letter A from his name. Isaac Lemon Ashitey, Oko Addo and Nii Odoi Yemo selected L, O and N respectively. Emmanuel Adams selected E, Isaac Bekoe, I, Dzifa Lawluvi, D, Joseph Anang, A, and Romeo Amoako-Agyeman, R. These letters were used to form a name. After some deliberation, ARDENT LION was accepted, from among other choices, to be the club’s name. A constitution was then drafted, and Nii Odoi Yemo, alias Jackson, was elected by the members to be the club’s chairman. A voluntary contribution of money was then made and the little money realized was later used to open a savings account for the club at the Opeibea branch of the Standard Chartered Bank. Members of Ardent Lion Club proceeded to help their community and society in the years that followed. They involved themselves in many self-help activities around the La area (La is a popular area in Accra, Ghana). They also helped to make life much better for needy and poor people. Through philanthropic gestures, they provided for such people on several occasions.

In October 2005, Ardent Lion Club registered as a not-for-profit company in Ghana. It was incorporated on the 4th of October, 2005 with the name ARDENT LION SOCIETY, INC and with the following objectives :

1.To positively change its community
2. To spread awareness nationwide through visual education on HIV/AIDS, DRUG ABUSE and MENTAL ILLNESS
3. To assist the poor and needy in society.

The organization was issued with a certificate to commence business on the 5th of October, 2005 by the Registrar General’s Department of Ghana. In December of the same year, Ardent Lion opened a branch in New York State of the United States of America. The organization registered with the New York State Department of State on December 6th, 2005. Membership of Ardent Lion keeps growing as the organization continues to fulfill its mission.
